Where you find your heart........

It's been a long road for me finding my "purpose" again, after the closing of An Orphans Wish, my China non-profit. It was my heart...my baby.... for so many years. Since then, I've been struggling through some odd jobs, doing a little bit of photography here and there, but always feeling like something was missing. I never knew that 8500 miles from Denver, I would find my mojo again.

In November, I had the opportunity to spend several weeks in India, with Photographers Without Borders, on a photography/storytelling trip. It was life changing for me. I found my heart again in storytelling....combining my photography, love for travel and giving back. This trip was focused on an India based non profit called Sambhali Trust. An incredible organization that focuses on empowering women and children in Rajasthan, India.

I learned the in's and out's of professional storytelling through images. The next few weeks I'll share some of these stories. The images below are of just one of many centers that have been set up to help.

This particular one teaches young girls to sew, gives them a sense of community, while boosting their confidence and self esteem.

From a culture where gender equality is a huge issue...it was empowering to see these young girls overcoming, succeeding and becoming the unstoppable women they were meant to be.

Hope you enjoy them. :)
